If Conchita had came to the net more often in her career and had a faster serve she would have won more grand slams!!!!!!! Her only real chance to win at Roland Garros.
She wasnt at her best in this match. She played only a good match for her standards, well below some of her other clay matches this year. Martinez played a mediocre match for her standards, way below some of her other clay matches this year. Both wanted that French Open title so bad, the one both always wanted to win most but ended up winning another previously instead, and both knowing it might be their last chance. It was a very nervy match and not that good.
no se como Arantxa no estaba en esta final ,, la verdad que el partido de semifinales entre las españolas fué penoso ,,, yo creo que Arantxa podía ganarle a Pierce como lo hizo 6 años antes en 1994. además tendría mucha más curiosidad ya que Arantxa siempre se habría enfrentado en finales de Grand Slam a tenistas como Seles, Graf y Pierce. Conchita no tenía que dejar ganar este partido a Pierce y demostrar la garra española de Arantxa en Roland Garrós.
when she was at her best, mary had most of graf’s power and footwork, and combined it with the depth and accuracy of a player like davenport. I did feel a bit bad for Conchita though, this was the one she always wanted to win and seemed made for it. She would’ve won more if she’d been in better shape

Both were so watchable for different reasons 🙂
Always wanted Conchita to win more, then wimbledon is perhaps the biggest trophy of the lot
