PLAYER VS MASTER

You will see Andy Murray playing against his coach Ivan Lendl very soon. Yes, you have read it correctly. Murray and Lendl will be on different sides of the court in a charity match which is going to take place on 16th of June.

This is going to be a doubles match. Murray’s partner in this match will be Tim Henman and this pair will take on Lendl and Tomas Berdych.

Murray has achieved a lot of success under the guidance of Lendl. He had appointed Lendl as his coach towards the end of the year 2011.

The 2012 season proved to be one of the best seasons in Murray’s career. Lendl detected his weaknesses and made him work hard on that. As a result, his performance gradually improved and he ended up winning the first Grand Slam of his career in the 2012 season. He became the champion of US Open.

Before that, Murray had also won the Gold medal in the singles competition of London Olympics and had reached the finals of the Wimbledon Championships. Those were also great efforts by the Scot.

This Charity match is going to collect money for the cancer patients. All the money collected from this match will go to Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

When asked how he is feeling about playing in this match, Lendl said, “This match will be played for a fantastic cause. We will be raising funds for the cancer patients and it’s a great thing. I am really proud that I will be a part of this match. I can’t wait for that day.”

“To be competing against players like Andy and Tim will really be exciting. It will be after 20 years that I will play on the grass court and I am looking forward to it.”
