Retirement Thoughts

French-American Tennis player, Mary pierce, has said that she hasn’t given it a thought what she would do after retiring from the professional tennis. She said that she hadn’t even thought about retirement even once till now. She said that she was enjoying the tennis a lot and her body was responding quite well. But, in the last year or so, she realized that her body is feeling the heat now. As per Mary, It is very hard to maintain your fitness at the age of 37 years. A 37 year old doesn’t have the same energy and enthusiasm as a 20 year old.

Pierce was born in 1975 in Canada. Her father belongs to America while her mother belongs to France. So, Pierce could adopt the nationality of any of these three countries. At the international level, he played for France. The credit of bringing Pierce in the field of tennis goes to her father. Her father used to coach her in the earlier part of her career. Her father worked very hard with him. But, later on, due to some issues, she left her father. Thereafter, she took training in the academy of Nick Bollettieri.

In the French open of 1994, pierce played some brilliant tennis and went to the finals. In the semifinal, she had beaten the great tennis player, Steffy Graph. Steffy was the no. 1 tennis player in the world at that time. Unfortunately, Pierce was not able to win the title and she was defeated by Arantxa Sanchez Vicario in the final match. But, the dream of Pierce to win a Grand Slam in front of her home crowd became true when she won the French open in 2000. She also won the doubles title in the French open that year. She had played with Martina Hingis in the doubles.
